PERSON SHE’D MOST LIKE TO MEET: Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. But she’s gone,” Dietle said. I find her a fascinating person. She protected her children and her priva cy in the face of that notoriety.’
Early-morning breakfast meetings, long days and an incredible amount of energy all help Diane Dietle make time to do what she loves – volunteer work for numerous Oakland County charities and civic organizations.
And her favorite part of it all is the laborious task of decorating.
Dietle is executive director of The Baskin Law Firm in Birmingham by day, but she also finds time for various organizations such as the child Abuse and Neglect Council of Oakland county.
She is the council’s vice president. “I love fund-raising and event planning,” Dietle said. “The very best part is decorating. I love to decorate.”
Decorating is just a small part of Dietle’s contributions, but her friends and collegues believe that attention to detail is what makes her a success.
“She likes things just so,” said Diane Bedbaugh, Directo of Developemtn for the child Abuse and Neglect Council of Oakland County.
“She has wonderful organizational and people skills, and she has a flair for bringing people together and putting on wonderful gatherings.”
As for her own opinion, Dietle cites her public relations background and genuine interest in people.
Woman lends her time and energy to numerous groups
Her current project with the council is Merry-Go-Round, an annual fund-raiser coming up in November. “I feel a real pull to help this organization because it (child abuse) is so horrendous,” she said. Dietle keeps busy with her work for the council and her full-time job, but she wears many other hats.
She is chief executive and producer for “Due Process,” a public service program on WDI V-Channel 4.
“We cover legal issues,” Dietle said. “We’ve had some shows on child abuse and the Women’s Survival Center. Or simple things like real estate.”
Dietle also is the vice president of the Oakland County Bar Association and has been involved with the Michigan Kidney Foundation, Children’s Orthogenic School, the Michigan Cancer Foundation, Mental Illness Research Association, Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Horizons Upward Bound, Gift of Life Foundation, chester Szuber Foundation, (former) Gov. Engler’s Domestic Violence Task Force, and the Dysautonomia Foundation.
She has been honored with numerous awards for her efforts.
She’s an incredible reservoir of energy and puts it to good use,” Bedenbaugh said. We’re very fortunate to be one of her passions.”
