Pickup
- The toll free number for residents to call Republic Waste Services at:
(877) 264-5544
- Every resident should have one 96 gallon waste container from Republic. This is a specially designed container that is lifted by the truck to dump its contents.
- If you fill the container and still have more trash - then just use your other containers or trash bags. If you do that for several weeks in a row, Republic will automatically provide you with an additional container. They do not provide additional container in advance by request as they find people have taken too much advantage of that practice (and use them for other things not related to trash pick up (ie. beer storage at parties).
- Large items will be picked up automatically, no call is required. But they would appreciate a call if the object is very large (ie. sofa) and that will speed its removal.
- If you are disabled and have documentation to prove it. And if there is no one else in the household that can take out the trash, then Republic can arrange to have backyard removal. This requires special forms, and a waiver of liability by the resident.
- Republic provides everyone with a recycle container and there is no charge for recycle pick up. They encourage residents to recycle (see recycle rules below)
- Compost and Yard Waste will be picked up rules (see yard waste rules below). You must either use approved yard waste bags. or container labeled "yard waste" Grass Clippings, leaves, brush and other yard waste will be collected weekly from the first full week in April through the first full week of December.
- Lake Sherwood has Thursday as the regular pick up day. (Republic has a five day schedule in Commerce).
- Trash must be at the curb at 7:00 AM There is no guarantee they will come at the same time each week.
- If your trash is missed, you might benefit by the supervisor seeing it is still at the curb as they will be doing checks on areas, but it is your responsibility to have the trash at the curb at 7:00 AM
