A-Lot Dock Specifications
Lake Sherwood Association

DOCKS

All docks must be approved by the A-Lot Dock Committee and placed only where specified
  1. Safety: the prime concern is safety. The docks are to be maintained with safe and stable decks with no protruding fasteners or broken / cracked boards. All stringers are to be sound - not cracked or bent. The deck must be level within 2” side to side.
  2. Appearance : The docks should be well maintained and as similar as practical to other docks on the A-lot. The docks will be maintained with the original wood / aluminum surface (no paint or colors) Commercially available bumpers and fenders are allowed, but no tires allowed.

Recommended Specification:
  • Width - 30-36”.
  • Length - 16-20’ except as approved by the Dock Committee
  • Height - The deck surface must be above the water level
  • Materials / Construction - Commercially available wood or aluminum docks - (recommend 2” nominal thickness treated deck surface) . Poles to be commercially available -( recommend 2” galvanized steel with screw bases).
LIFTS

Lifts may be placed in a slip with the approval of the Dock Committee, space permitting.

NOTES

1. Dock / slip users must register their slip every year with the A-lot dock committee. Unregistered slips may be reassigned.
2. An unsafe or dilapidated dock or lift will be removed at the slip users expense.
3. The lift must not be stored on shore, but may be left in the water in winter. (not recommended – ice damage) Boats may be kept on the lift in the winter.
