2005 Perennial Exchange

Unfortunately this year, the Lake Sherwood Perennial Exchange experienced a weather conflict and moved the date up one day. A big thanks to Martha Klemmer who, in a moment's notice, was able to send out a last minute e-mail for the date change. Perennial exchangers enjoyed blended Mexican beverages while munching on a fruit platter, croissants, mini brownies, mango-salsa dip and chips and more provided by this year's sponsor LSA resident and Century 21 realtor Susan McFarland. This year's assortment of perennials included decorative ribbon grass, peony plants, cranesbill, geraniums, toad lilies, sedum, moonbeam coreopsis, ferns, columbine, English ivy, hostas, black-eyed susans, ajuga and more. With the sunshine and warm temperature, guest enjoyed exchanging plants and small talk. Many went home with more than plants; a light sunburn tagged along. Bogie Lake Greenhouse on Bogie Lake Road (across from Lakeland High School) generously donated a stunning basket of assorted perennials (value:$78). Winner of the basket was Jan Geisler of Ledgewood Court . Thanks to all who attended!. Just a note to add: Out of all the social activities I've attended, I've yet to have one to compare to a perennial exchange. Aside from everything being free, here is a group, unknown to each other, in a quaint setting that a stranger would think they've known each other forever. I think the best title for this group activity should be called the New Friendship Club. A special thanks to Pam Miller of Ledgewood for assisting with clean-up.
