The report is about 20 pages, some oversized drawings, some color pictures of site. General summary:
Oakland County, Section 07, Town 02N, Range 8E on unnamed tributary to the Huron River. The control structure is in the northeast corner of the intersection of Duck Lake Road and Sleeth Road. Outlet culvert passes under Sleeth Road approximately 1300 feet east of Duck Lake Road.
Total drainage area to the dam is approximately 11.0 sq miles and the contributing drainage area is 9.8 sq miles as per the Michigan DEQ (MDEQ). Lake has a surface area at the normal pool elevation of 928.8 of approximately 260 acres with a corresponding storage volume of 1600 acre-feet. Surface area at the maximum pool elevation of 930.5 (top of embankment) is 460 acres with a corresponding storage volume of 2300 acre-feet. The height of the dam, from the low point of the spillway to the outlet invert, is approximately 19.7 feet.
Drainage area is a combination of undeveloped wetlands/woodlands, residential development, gravel pits and recreation areas. A minor amount of development was observed downstream of the dam. Proud Lake State Recreation Area is located just downstream of dam's outlet. The stream has its confluence with the Huron River approximately 0.6 miles downstream of the dam.
The 1994 report demonstrated that the spillway is adequate based on the attenuated flow and the storage volume. The spillway calculations and data have been reviewed and are correct. Additional calculations were completed to verify the weir calculations from the 1994 report.
Appendix D has the spillage measurements at 14 different lake elevations. (head over gates, flow over gates, head over standpipe, flow over standpipe, total flow.)
